GettingHired

GettingHired.com is a job portal for people with disabilities. The site offers a plaform for the 23 million disabled Americas to network with others and search career opportunities in their area based on individual skills. Through annual subscriptions, employers can utilize GettingHired's patented RightMatch technology to connect with qualified candidates.

Challenges: Getting Hired moved their production hosting platform onto Amazon EC2/RightScale in an effort to reduce overall hosting costs. Their goal was to have fail over and scaling capacity not traditionally available within a collocation environment without intensive capital investment. Given the need for a time critical deployment and budget, many road blocks immediately come to play in coordination and logistics.
LTech Solution: By selecting Amazon's EC2 platform in combination with RightScale, GettingHired was able to team up with LTech's professional cloud services team to architect a dynamic solution for hosting Windows 2003 platform in EC2. One of the largest challenges faced by the team was designing a functional SQL 2005-based environment that could operate within the environmental constraint of Amazon to allow for dynamic storage of both system and database level aspects of the server. After careful preparation, LTech was able to architect a robust SQL server offering to leverage Windows 2003 within Amazon EC2 to use on demand and recover gracefully from virtually any disaster within the environment. Combined with the RightScale platform, the GettingHired solution could be deployed with the touch of a button, making a fully dynamic SQL server and IIS Web Server farm come alive within minutes.
Results: After preparation and testing, a full conversion of data and live site cutover was conducted for GettingHired overnight with great success. GettingHired now has a fully managed environment, capable of growing with user demand on the fly with minimal cost impact. Given the reliability of the Amazon/RightScale services, near zero downtime has been attained for GettingHired.com.
